Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve compiled answers to some of the most common questions to help you get the information you need quickly.

  • Why can’t you see clients from every state?
My ability to provide psychological service is limited by state-specific licensure laws. I'm licensed to practice in Washington, California, and Oregon, so I can only work with clients who are residents of these states.
  • Do you offer a sliding scale or reduced fees?
No, I don’t offer sliding scale fees. This allows me to maintain the quality and consistency of care for all my clients.
  • Is a deposit required for the Love Clarity Profile?
Yes, a non-refundable deposit of $250 is required to secure your appointment for this assessment. This ensures the necessary time and resources is reserved for your evaluation. The deposit will be applied toward the total cost of the assessment.
  • What are your fees?
Individual therapy: $240 per 50-minute session; I accept Lyra, Aetna, and Pacific Source (Oregon). Love Clarity Profile (assessment): $3,000 -$6,000. The fee is provided as a range because every case is different. The complexity of your specific situation, the time required to fully understand it, and the effort needed to tailor the process to your individual needs all play a role in determining the final cost. This approach ensures you’re getting a thorough and personalized assessment. This type of assessment isn’t covered by insurance because it doesn’t meet the criteria for being "medically necessary." Instead of diagnosing or treating a clinical condition, this assessment focuses on self-awareness, relational dynamics, and personal growth—areas that insurance providers typically do not reimburse.
  • When is payment due, and how can I pay?
Payment is due at the start of each session unless we’ve made other arrangements. I accept cash, credit cards, and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). For credit card payments, I use Ivy Pay, a secure, HIPAA-compliant mobile app that ensures your payment information is handled safely and privately. This app is used for both therapy sessions and assessments.
  • What happens if I cancel or miss an appointment?
I require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations and rescheduling because that hour is reserved specifically for you. Without enough notice, it’s difficult to offer the time to someone else who may need it. For assessments, the cancellation fee is $250 due to the preparation and resources involved in planning your evaluation. Thank you for understanding—this policy helps me provide consistent and dedicated care to all my clients.
  • What insurance do you accept?
For therapy, I accept Lyra, Aetna, and Pacific Source (Oregon). The Love Clarity Profile assessment isn’t covered by insurance because it doesn’t meet the criteria for being "medically necessary." Instead of diagnosing or treating a clinical condition, this assessment focuses on self-awareness, relational dynamics, and personal growth—areas that insurance providers typically do not reimburse.
  • Can I use out-of-network benefits to work with you?
Yes! If I’m not in-network with your insurance provider, you may still be able to use your out-of-network benefits to cover a portion of our sessions. Here’s what to do: 1. Call your insurance provider and ask: Does my plan include out-of-network benefits for therapy? How many sessions per year are covered? What percentage of the session cost will be reimbursed after I meet my deductible? Do I need to provide any specific documentation, such as a diagnosis, for reimbursement? 2. If your plan covers out-of-network therapy, I can provide a monthly statement (Superbill) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many PPO plans reimburse 50–100% of allowable session costs after the deductible is met. Let me know if you have more questions about how this process works!
  • How can I check if my insurance covers therapy?
To find out if your insurance covers therapy, call your insurance provider directly and ask the following questions: Does my plan cover therapy services (individual or couples therapy)? Are there any restrictions, such as needing a referral, prior authorization, or a specific diagnosis? How many therapy sessions are covered per year? What is my co-pay or co-insurance for therapy services? Do I need to meet a deductible before coverage begins? Having these details upfront can help you plan and understand any potential costs.
  • When will I receive a Good Faith Estimate?
By law, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your scheduled service. You also have the right to request one at any time before booking an appointment.
  • What is a Good Faith Estimate, and why will I receive one?
Under federal law, health care providers are required to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance a "Good Faith Estimate." This document explains the expected costs of medical or mental health services, including therapy or assessments.
  • Where can I learn more about my rights regarding Good Faith Estimates?
For more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
  • Why is the Good Faith Estimate important?
This estimate helps you plan for the cost of services and ensures transparency. Saving a copy of your Good Faith Estimate is important for comparing it to your final bill and resolving any discrepancies.
  • What happens if my bill is higher than the Good Faith Estimate?
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than the Good Faith Estimate, you have the legal right to dispute the charges.
